I was looking on this page to find out more about plasma desktop shell and i found an interesting link to a video in which Aza Raskin is presenting his concept about how the future GUI should be. He has innovating ideas, but most of them are already implemented by some applications of Google by example.

His speech is about human and computer interaction, in other words computer interfaces. One of the ideas of this presentation is that the future computer interfaces should combine both GUI and CLI. In the second part of his speech he talks about a powerful zoom function that should be one of the mainly characteristic of computer interfaces.
